Scouts: The Great Indoors https://www.scouts.org.uk/the-great-indoors/

Based on out current programmes and badgework, we think the badges below would be good to have a go at. The requirements can be found here: https://www.scouts.org.uk/cubs/activity-badges/

Remember that it may not be possible to do all the tasks with the current situation, please speak to an adult at home and see if there’s a suitable alternative instead!

  1.  Book Reader
Quite a good badge for when you are confined to home.
          a.  Make a list of at least 6 books recently read with authors added
          b.  Discuss with your parent the story and merits of three of them,  at least one being factual, one being fictional.
          c.   Demonstrate you can look after your books
          d.   Show you can use a dictionary and thesaurus. Either in real life or online
          e.   Investigate on line how a library is arranged.  You can check your findings once we are allowed back into                       them.
          f.    To have the badge work checked,  forward the list of books read showing which ones you discussed, and send parental confirmation that activities b to f were successfully completed.

  2.     Home Help
A really useful badge that is tailor made to be completed at home:

                a.   Follow the list on  Scout.org and complete as per the requirements shown making sure that you are working                           safely.                b.   Forward confirmation that activities have been completed successfully.
Some of the activities will also be able to count towards the Our Skills Challenge Award so a double whammy.
      3.      Naturalist
A new one to add to the list but one that could  be interesting to attempt,  I would attack it as follows:
                a.    Identify 6 trees either in or around my garden or in a nearby park and                       Identify 6 birds that come into my garden                b.    During April, visit my local park and take some photos and notes of a particular area.  Then, during April,                                 May and June go back at least 4 times and record any changes, e.g.  increased foliage, growth of flowers,                                  ferns, nettles, wildlife etc.                c.     Find out about the County Code and make a poster to show what we should / shouldn’t do.                d.    Choose any of the activity options,   maybe a bark rubbing, or make and keep supplied a bird feeder.
