In mid October some Scouts took part in the annual JOTA-JOTI event. JOTA-JOTI (Jamboree on the Air – Jamboree on the Internet) is the world’s largest digital Scout event taking place on the Internet and over the airwaves.
Alex took part in the activities, spending a lot of time on the Minecraft server- building a water slide in his own area and taking part in various mini games. He spotted a geocaching trackable sheep in the lobby which we then discovered with our geocaching account. He also completed some of the challenges – getting to know Earth tribe, origami, virtual quizzes about animals, watched some of the European campfire, thought about the importance of dialogue, learnt about Patrimonito badge, completed the safe on line certificate.
Alex really enjoyed the Minecraft and was amazed at some of the creations especially in the city where the aim was to be as realistic as possible, which he was then inspired to use to try and improve his build.
The event connects millions of young people around the world for a full weekend of online activities that promote friendship and global citizenship.
All those who took part fulfilled some requirements for the Digital Citizen award.
